Armadillo I happened to catch a great pet-worthy episode of This American Life on NPR this past weekend. It’s a re-broadcast of an episode that aired back in 2000, but if you haven’t heard it before then it’s new to you.

You can listen to a podcast of the episode here. I found the story involving the armadillo to be especially touching (yes, i admit it, I got a little choked up).

Stories of dogs and cats and other animals that live in our homes. Exactly how much are they caught up in everyday family dynamics? We answer this question and others.

Harris was hunting with a group about three miles north of Grinnell. The group shot a bird, and when Harris went to get it, he put his gun on the ground and crossed a fence. As he crossed the fence, his hunting dog stepped on the gun, Foster said.

Usually getting shot is actually not that funny and I wouldn’t normally poke fun at such a potentially serious subject, but when there’s a dog at the trigger, well… I just had to chuckle. A little. On the inside.
